TEACHING

My teaching background covers a vast experience of teaching bass guitar at University, College and School level, as well as private individual lessons. I also teach Ukulele, as well as music theory.

I have knowledge of most styles of music, and include music theory within my lessons, relating to the instrument and the pieces being played.

My previous experience as a Rockschool examiner has given me an understanding of what is required in order to prepare a student for exams, as well as a wider knowledge of all rock/pop instruments.

I have experienced both sides of the examination procedures, having attained a grade 8 with distinction on the bass guitar.

Being a reading musician, I can teach students how to read music notation, and how to facilitate this in relation to the instrument and the pieces being learnt.

I have developed many exercises for use on the bass guitar in order to improve fingerboard knowledge, harmony, stretching, rhythm, cross-string picking, etc.
Private lessons normally last for one hour, either weekly or fortnightly.
I can accommodate students at home, although students who require me to travel to them will have an additional charge to cover fuel and travel time.
Music establishment rates can vary, depending on the duties involved. Please enquire with details for a quote.
Skype lessons can also be arranged.
